These help those who are putting the project out to tender to define it properly first, and help the contractors to actually erect the structure. If the “fair-faced concrete result” is not to be left to chance, and if misunderstandings between client and contractors are to be avoided, there will need to be unambiguous and practicable descriptions (wordings for invitations to tender, sketches, photos) for these “concrete surfaces remaining permanently on view”.
