In collaboration with the Automatic Climbing Technology EC, Doka Eesti has succeeded in getting the Windshield GCS system used for the first time in Estonia, on the Tornimäe high-rise project in Tallinn.
From the 4th storey upward, the Tornimäe high-rise separates into an apartment building and a hotel tower, each of which will be 119 m tall on completion. The towers are being built by two different construction firms – the apartment tower by Merko, and the hotel tower by Kontek. Both of them rely on innovative climbing formwork concept GCS from Doka.
The Windshield GCS system on the façade protects the floor-slab forming operations against the weather. The system is supplemented by a Climbing formwork GCS on the outside walls. The wheeling-out platforms integrated into the Windshield units make it easy to “fly” the floor-slab formwork to the next storey.
All in all, an innovative climbing formwork concept has been developed here by Doka which permits a controlled cycle on the slabs and walls despite the inclement weather conditions.
The clients, who have been enjoying the smooth co-operation with Doka Eesti and the Automatic Climbing Technology EC, are extremely satis- fied.
