This twin-tube motorway tunnel with 2 lanes in each tube has an overall length of 2,4 km.
100 pouring sections per tube, each 24 m long were necessarry to cast the twin-tubes. By using 2 Doka forming carriages 48 m per week were casted. |

The Tunnel Steinhaus was built in cut and cover construction method. Because of the ground water the whole section was casted in one pour (= "White tank" - i.e. as a water impermeable body of concrete with no additional impervious external skin).
All formwork movements were controlled by a central steering unit (- stripping of bottom panels, pulling back of wall panels and moving to the next pouring step).
