Doka will be spotlighting its ergonomically optimised Dokaset wall formwork at bauma 2007. The system features pre-mounted platforms complete with railings, and it scores convincingly for its impressive working-speed and safety. As the first on-site assignments have clearly shown: for walls, Dokaset is the fastest formwork system there is. Read here how this new formwork system for the building construction sector has been winning its spurs at sites in Sweden and Germany.

Swedish housing developer
JM AB gained its first experience
with Dokaset on the Årstaberg
project in Stockholm.
JM wanted to construct the loadbearing
in-situ walls (cross-walls)
of eight apartment blocks at high
speed and with good quality results.
Doka suggested testing its
new Dokaset wall formwork, specially
developed for use in building
construction. This room-high
formwork, 2.77 m in height, can be
filled in one pour and is ideal for
use in cross-wall construction. Ingeniously
thought-out right down
to the very last detail, this system
produces in-situ walls at unprecedented
speed. The fastest wall
formwork system in the business
arrives at the site folded closed to
save space, with all its platforms
and railings already mounted, and
is readied for use in a few simple
steps. The JM forming crew only
had to unfold the ready-mounted
platforms and railings, and fix
the panel struts and ladders in
the waling system using hammerhead
screws. As Dokaset needs up
to 50% fewer wall-ties than a conventional
framed formwork, JM
saved even more time – the 2.77 m
high and 2.70 m wide panels manage
with only two form-ties each!
These tension ties need no distance
tubes and are operated at
an ergonomical working height of
98 cm, from one side only. Fewer
form-ties means less work – in
every respect. As well as the time savings due to the fact that the form-ties are so easy to handle, there is also less finishing work to do on the tie-holes left in the cast concrete wall. Because Dokaset
is faced with the revolutionary
Xlife sheet, JM was still satisfied
with the concrete finish even after many pouring cycles. Using 200 m² of Dokaset formwork, JM was able to complete a storey every
3 days.

Not only in Sweden do construction
sites place great emphasis
on workplace safety, of course. Dokaset scores with a slew of ingenious
details here: All the main forming operations, such as placing
the form-ties and clamps, and hanging the crane hook into the permanently mounted lifting chain, can be performed from the safety of ground level. The readymounted
working platforms come with integral rear and side railings, and access to the platform is by a telescoping ladder. In this way, all forming and pouring-operations can be carried out in the very greatest safety.
Following the successful trial run with Dokaset at this site, JM is using the new system on its next project as well, the Spånga residential
development in Stockholm. Work started here in November 2006 on the construction of 137 apartments. 6000 m² of cross-walls are to be poured here using 150 m² of Dokaset formwork. At temperatures
that often drop far below zero,
25 linear metres of high-quality cross-walls are being cast every day. To help the concrete cure despite
the freezing cold, the Dokaset panels have been provided with an extra insulating layer on the outside. JM supervisor Kenneth Schmidt is unstinting in his praise: “By using the new Dokaset formwork
we can save valuable manhours
during the forming operations,
as well as drastically reducing
the amount of finishing work that needs doing.”

Bavarian International School: Significant reduction in forming-times and costs

The advantages of the new Dokaset formwork system were also borne out at the site of the Bavarian International School in Heimhausen, near Munich.

In Germany, too, the new “allin”
formwork system Dokaset has been cutting both formingtimes and costs. When it came to building an extension at the Bavarian
International School in Haimhausen
near Munich, the search was on for a fast formwork solution
for the in-situ walls. After all, it was important for classes to resume as soon as possible. Contractors
Porr AG opted to use the new Dokaset system for the walls. Together with logistically optimised
sequencing of the forming operations, this enabled it to complete
the works on schedule. The above-mentioned characteristics of Dokaset decisively speeded up the progress of work, especially with the cross-wall (separate casting) construction method. Resetting operations proceeded very quickly indeed on this site, because Dokaset’s fold-down pouring platforms and railings did not have to be dismounted
first. And the time-consuming search for accessories was done away with altogether: When the formwork is struck, the tension ties are stored in special receptacles
fixed to the formwork. Quickacting
clamps and other accessories
can be stored in the optional “Dokaset box”
