High accolade for Doka
Doka has been awarded the SOLID-Bautech Prize 2008 for the formwork operations on the building of the Burj Dubai, which was rated the best project in the “concrete construction” category.
Burj Dubai
At 601 m, the in-situ concrete core of the Burj Dubai is already the world’s tallest building by far. The automatic climbing formwork from Doka allowed the more than 180 casting steps to be executed in a three-day cycle.
In particular, the university professors and internationally renowned construction experts on the high-calibre jury singled out the ingenious materials-scheduling, the self-climbing formwork solution and the record-breaking three-day cycle for the over 180 casting steps as an extraordinary and indeed exemplary accomplishment. The Burj Dubai project propelled Doka right to the front of a line-up of over thirty entrants, easily outranking a number of major international construction industry players. Completion of the 601 m tall in-situ concrete core of the Burj Dubai has given Doka not just a formwork-technology world record but also some valuable experience of dealing with extreme construction-engineering situations. Already a highly capable formwork partner, Doka now has a know-how lead that puts it in a very strong position to rise to the upcoming challenges in the race to help build the world’s tallest buildings.

In March of this year, Doka won the “Bautechnik-Award 2008” from the construction trade journal BBB for its Table Lifting System, an innovative system for moving tableforms up to the next floor independently of the crane, which was ranked as the most significant formwork technology innovation of recent years.
