The latest Doka innovations at World of Concrete 2008
The Table Lifting System TLS and the guided Climbing formwork Xclimb 60 – two new systems to be showcased by Doka USA at World of Concrete 2008 that help construction firms get a lasting competitive edge. Addtionally, Doka will be informing attendees on the many different advantages of the high-performing Framax framed formwork for walls, the flexibility and cost efficiency of the slab formwork system Dokaflex S, as well as the precision of Doka’s circular formwork H 20.
Jumping tableforms with out a crane to the next level
The novel Doka TLS lays down some brand-new benchmarks for craneless vertical repositioning of Dokamatic tables, opening up radically new vistas when it comes to jobsite costs and planning. This innovative hoisting appliance is used for safe, craneless lifting of Doka tableforms to the next story – at a speed of 10 meters/minute -- freeing the crane for use on other operations at the site. This speeds construction workflows and efficiently reduces labor costs. The system’s integrated brackets make it possible to assemble climbing table-lifting units with a lifting height of up to 10-meters. Further, these TLS climbing units can be crane-lifted to other positions on the site at any time. For lifting-heights of up to 40-meters, the TLS is simply erected on a base slab. Horizontal repositioning of the table forms is also carried out with no need for a crane, using the field-proven attachable drive unit and shifting trolley.

Doka to Debut Guided Climbing System with Protection Screen
Doka also has added the new guided Xclimb 60 system to their line of climbing products. In addition, Doka has broadened its safety products by introducing the new Doka Protection Screen, which is used in combination with the Xclimb 60 for full multi-story perimeter protection on high-rise buildings. Whether it is a crane-lifted or a self-climbing project, Doka’s new Xclimb 60 system is designed for cost-effective universal use for climbing formwork applications. The system is designed for ultimate climbing safety and is utilized for small to mid-sized climbing applications. The guided system is always connected to the wall with a self-locking mechanism. With lightweight hydraulic units, lifting up to four brackets at a time, the system enables speed of construction.

Already a proven solution on many projects in Europe, the Doka Xclimb 60 system is designed for formwork applications of typical shear walls and cores for high-rise-buildings and piers in bridge construction. When used with formwork, its enhanced durable roll-back system provides lots of space and adjustability for efficient formwork handling. The long profiles and guided shoes of the climbing system allow for the ability to climb over wall openings while the system is always connected to the building. The system is designed to allow preassembly of large sections.

The Xclimb 60 system can be used in combination with the Doka Protection Screen to provide full high-rise perimeter protection for the working floor and three floors below. This results in improved safety and production. Work proceeds at all levels protected from wind, weather and the fear of falling. The Xclimb 60 protection screen can be raised either by crane or by hydraulics. Xclimb 60 loading platforms are available, which also climb on the exterior of the building together with the protection screen to allow easy cycling of slab formwork. To avoid the adverse impact of climate changes, Doka offers two types of trapezoidal metal sheeting – a perforated sheet for warm weather conditions and a closed sheet for colder climates. The screen can be used on all types of slab perimeters and high-rise buildings, with any upturn or downturn beams, or with optional built-in working decks to operate hydraulics for post-tension slabs.

Framax framed formwork – high-performing solutions from a modular “construction kit”
When it comes to wall formwork, World of Concrete attendees will find plenty of convincing proof of the merits of Doka’s high-performing, cost-reducing formwork solutions. Of note is the Framax Xlife framed formwork system. With its hot-dip galvanized, powder-coated steel frames, this is the system of choice for a high number of re-use cycles. With its extra-long service life, and needing only a smaller number of wall-ties, it’s guaranteed to ensure economical construction operations. What’s more, its logical system-grid gives users a maximum of flexibility, ensuring optimum utilization of the formwork equipment.

Another Doka offering for the wall-formwork field is the rugged, fast hand-set formwork system Frami. The universal “Frami clamp” panel connector makes the formwork very easy to set up, helping work to move ahead swiftly. This keeps the on-site formwork quantities to a minimum, and optimizes users’ rental costs. In addition to the Framax “construction kit,” Doka will showcase exhibits from the field of circular formwork. The Circular formwork H 20 system has continuous adaptability to different radii by way of easy-to-operate spindles, for its heavy-duty form-ply and extremely robust design. Further, the Circular formwork H 20 can readily be combined with Framax framed formwork and Column formwork RS. Doka also will display the Framax circular forming plate, designed for enabling Framax panels to be used as low-cost circular formwork.

Forming floor-slabs the fast, flexible way
Another big focus at World of Concrete will be the cost-saving floor-slab formwork Dokaflex S. The versatile system-grid of this efficient hand-set system requires only one worker for each step, saving considerably on time and labor. With only five separate components, the one-man system can be assembled from the ground, offering ease-of-assembly and flexibility to form any building or shape. Dokaflex S can be used with any grade of plywood, allowing any desired finish for concrete slabs.

In addition, visitors to the DOKA booth will have the opportunity to put Doka formwork equipment to the test and see a live demonstration of its real-world practicality. For example, the exclusive “H20 top” formwork beam, with its built-in shock absorbers, will offer attendees a first-hand view of Doka’s solutions. Visitors can also try their hand at optimized formwork removal using the award-winning Framax bias cut corner I.

The Doka USA exhibition team is looking forward to meeting you at the World of Concrete, booth C5812. The exhibition will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada, January 22-25, 2008.
