Soccer reigned supreme on September 03, 2011: the event was the UMDASCH-DOKA Champions League, the venue the SKU Ertl Glas Stadium in Amstetten, Austria.
This was the 8th champions tournament and in all 350 soccer-loving men and women from Umdasch and Doka took to the pitch, cheered on by almost as many keen fans. 29 teams from 12 countries gave ample demonstration of their footballing skills as they battled it out for the challenge cup. Top footballers from Brazil, Italy and the Czech Republic took to the field along with the "Dutch Lions", "FC Stützenfertigung" (from the props manufacturing section), the "Grasshoppers" ladies' team, the "DHV Holzhacker" (woodworkers all) and the "The Skyclimbers". They were all eager to reach footballing heaven on the day and everyone who took to the field had - literally - a clear goal in mind. There were 105 matches, and the ball ended up in the back of the net a total of 341 times. The honours ultimately went to the USCA team from Umdasch Shop Concept, who lined up against the Doka Brazil team in the final. The number three slot went to the "USCO Kickers" from Switzerland, who had the 6:5 edge over the "Puskas's Sons" team from Hungary. Counsellor of Commerce Alfred Umdasch and his wife Elisabeth, along with CEO Dr. Andreas Ludwig - himself wearing No. 12 for his team - presented the trophy and congratulated the champions and everyone who took part.
Fair play and the motto "Sport, worldwide partnership" helped make the UMDASCH-DOKA Champions League a great soccer event and an unforgettable day for people from all parts of our global community. Excellent games were enjoyed by all. The team headed by Helmut Flexl, Josef Frenzl, Kurt König, Johannes Niebisch and Hermann Stift made a great job of organising the tournament and in their thoughts they are already tracing the arc of the round leather ball to the kick-off for the UMDASCH-DOKA Champions League 2012.
