Doka Powers Vertical Progress on Century City Project

05/20/25 | British Columbia, Canada
We make it work.
Doka is proud to play a key role in shaping Century City, a visionary mixed-use development in the heart of Surrey, British Columbia, by delivering advanced formwork solutions for its high-rise residential towers. In collaboration with CWL Contracting LTD, Doka has contributed to both towers of this landmark project, supporting a community where modern urban living coexists in harmony with 25 acres of dedicated green space.

Innovative Engineering for Urban-Nature Integration
Century City, master-planned by Century Group and designed by ZGF Architects LLP, is redefining what it means to live in balance with nature. The towers feature four levels of indoor amenities, sweeping views, and direct access to vast outdoor parklands, ushering in a new model for sustainable, lifestyle-oriented urban design.

To help realize this ambitious vision, Doka provided formwork systems across both towers. The most recent tower, a 39-storey high-rise spanning nearly 40,000 square feet, broke ground in 2023 and is scheduled for completion in 2025. For this phase, Doka supplied its high-performance Top 50 wall system, trusses, column forms, and the innovative Super Climber SCP system, a standout solution tailored to the project's unique challenges.

Overcoming Site Complexities with Smart Formwork
Construction at the Century City site required smart, adaptable solutions due to a range of logistical and environmental constraints. The limited crane availability and high wind exposure demanded a formwork system that could deliver speed and resilience without relying heavily on crane cycles.

Doka’s Super Climber SCP system delivered exactly that—allowing vertical construction to progress safely and efficiently, even during high-wind conditions. By reducing manpower needs on vertical forming days and minimizing crane dependency, the SCP solution helped keep the project on track and aligned with its aggressive schedule.

Seamless Collaboration and Customer Satisfaction
Behind the scenes, Doka’s technical design, procurement, and pre-assembly teams worked in lockstep to ensure seamless delivery and integration of the formwork systems. On site, Doka’s field service technicians played a crucial role, providing hands-on support and troubleshooting in real time.

This cross-functional partnership between Doka and CWL Contracting LTD has led to high praise from stakeholders, reinforcing Doka’s position as a trusted, solution-oriented partner in high-rise residential construction.

"We are proud to be part of the Century City project, a development that embodies forward-thinking design, community wellness, and sustainability,” says Gunnar Falke, CEO of Doka Canada. “Our solutions were engineered to meet the demands of a complex site while helping our customer stay on schedule and on budget. This project is a testament to the Doka team's commitment to collaborating with our partners and delivering when they need it most."
