You have an idea for a Masters thesis or are still looking for a suitable topic and wish to work on it with a global company? Now, Doka offers the possibility.
The Josef Umdasch Research Prize has been established in memory of the company founder, Josef Umdasch. As such, this award is an expression of the value placed of outstanding achievements by research and development. In 2016 the prize is internationally awarded again by the Doka Group and is endowed with EUR 50,000.
By directly connecting science and practice and instilling an entrepreneurial spirit within the framework of degree theses, the award is intended to lay an ideal foundation for students in particular to get started in their professional lives. Hence the Josef Umdasch Research Prize is an important part and visible sign set by the Umdasch Foundation, an initiative by Umdasch Group in support of educating and promoting young people worldwide.
Within the framework of your final assignment for your university studies, college or applied sciences or equivalent education, you have the possibility to work on one of the specific topics Doka is looking to support or submit another topic that might generate results of interest to Doka.

Projects of particularly high quality will be awarded in the course of the Josef Umdasch Reasearch Prize Ceremony. The award includes prize money as well as a certificate and will be shared with a wider public.
In order to qualify for the 2017 award ceremony, the completed project must be submitted no later than 31 January.
Award recipients are selected by a jury composed of representatives of institutions of higher learning (universities, colleges of applied sciences) and Doka.

Applications may be submitted at any time, regardless of whether the intent is to work on a topic announced by Doka or one your came up with on your own. The topic of the thesis must be of interest to Doka. It is not necessary for the results to be ready for immediate implementation. We also support research into basics that might be of interest to us in the long term or that concern framework conditions of Doka's field of activity. The application must also include considerations regarding the economic benefits of the project idea, such as savings in resources or quality improvements. Doka will decide whether to award the stipend. By accepting the stipend, Doka shall be granted the rights to utilize the results. On this matter, Doka will enter into individual agreements with the applicant and the supporting institute.
