Bridge Construction Tavannes-Bözingenfeld TP2

N16, Biel-Tavannes, Canton of Bern (Switzerland)

With the construction of the new N16 Tavannes–Bözingenfeld TP2 bridge, the Swiss Federal Roads Office (ASTRA) is setting a strong statement for the resource-efficient modernisation of Switzerland's transport infrastructure. To realise this forward-thinking project, ASTRA and the executing construction company Walo Bertschinger AG rely on Doka as their exclusive partner – delivering integrated system solutions and services from a single source.

The foundation for the new bridge construction was a well-thought-out combination of the universal engineering kit Doka UniKit with the UniKit Shoring tower 1000, and UniKit primary and secondary beams. A key advantage – and ultimately decisive in the awarding of the contract – was the high load-bearing capacity of the UniKit secondary beams. This enabled the construction of seven bridge spans of up to 22 meters in length without the need for additional intermediate supports.

Individually designed, precisely executed – system-based solutions for the highest demands

A total of 250 timber formwork boxes – each designed in 3D and individually shaped – were precisely pre-assembled by our Pre-Assembly Team and used for the piers, superstructure, and edge beams.

The piers, up to 8 meters high, were constructed using the Framax framed formwork – supported by DokaXact with real-time concrete monitoring. This ensured the required fair-faced concrete quality of all components could be reliably achieved.

Retaining walls with heights of up to 7.5 m were constructed using the Top 50 and Top 100 large-area formwork as well as the Xsafe platform system – ensuring maximum safety on site.

An experienced Doka Formwork Instructor ensured smooth on-site execution by professionally overseeing the proper assembly and use of the systems over several weeks.
