L25 Erlachgalerie avalanche gallery, Defereggental

Austria

The avalanche gallery extends 1093 m overall, of which 140 m were built as a closed tunnel and the remaining 960 m as a gallery structure with an arched cross-section open along one side. On the downhill side, each section of the arched gallery structure is carried on 3 piers instead of a wall. Along the entire length, each section of the gallery cross-section was cast monolithically, complete with the piers on the open, downhill side.
