Doka has successfully delivered its comprehensive formwork and scaffolding solutions for one of Dubai’s most innovative residential developments, Sportz by Danube. Located in Dubai Sports City, the multi-building complex is designed to support an active lifestyle, offering a broad range of sports and leisure amenities for residents. Every apartment is designed for premium comfort and includes its own private pool. To manage the rigorous construction schedule of these two individual buildings, developer Danube Properties Development and contractor HRE Construction L.L.C partnered with Doka UAE, relying on a combination of automated climbing and high-cycle floor systems to ensure structural precision and rapid programme delivery.

The Sportz by Danube project presented a classic high-rise challenge in terms of achieving consistent, fast-paced casting cycles while maintaining the highest safety standards across two towers simultaneously. With a project timeline running from November 2024 through to December 2026, the need for a reliable, systematic workflow was paramount.

Automated climbing and systematic slab success
For the vertical structures of the twin towers, Doka’s engineering team implemented a high-performance core-wall solution. The Automatic climbing formwork SKE50 plus was deployed in combination with Large-area formwork Top 50 beam formwork, providing a crane-independent hydraulic solution. This allowed the core walls to advance at a steady pace, decoupled from the main site crane activities. The SKE50 plus system’s fully enclosed working platforms also provided an exceptionally safe environment for site teams, including protection from direct sunlight, dust and wind, typical of Dubai’s high-rise construction.

For the horizontal slab cycles, Doka introduced the Panel floor formwork Dokadek 30. Known for its speed and simplicity, the Dokadek 30 allowed the site team to form large areas of the typical residential floors with minimal effort. The systematic assembly of the panels, combined with the drop-head design, enabled early striking, which significantly reduced the volume of material required on-site and accelerated the overall floor-to-floor cycle. This efficiency was critical in meeting the developer’s ambitious delivery milestones.

A partnership rooted in service and circularity
The collaboration on Sportz was also defined by Doka’s commitment to resource efficiency and specialised service offerings. A unique aspect of this project was Doka’s reconditioning service for the client’s existing material inventory. By professionally assessing and refurbishing the contractor’s own formwork equipment, Doka enabled HRE Construction to maximise its assets while ensuring that all components met Doka’s stringent safety and quality standards for use on this high-profile project.

Furthermore, Doka provided its Ready-to-Use (RTU) and on-site assembly support services. Core formwork panels arrived on-site pre-assembled, allowing for immediate installation and reducing the labour burden in the project’s limited staging areas. "The immediate delivery timeline and the efficiency of the SKE systems were key highlights for our team," noted Abdallah Banat, Project Manager at HRE Construction. "Doka’s technical solution and its ability to recondition existing materials allowed us to satisfy our structural requirements with a highly competitive cost-to-performance ratio."

The strength of long-term collaboration
The success of Sportz by Danube is built on a foundation of trust established over more than 30 years of partnership between Doka and the developer-contractor entity. This long-term relationship allowed for seamless communication during the planning phases and enabled Doka to provide tailored advice and consulting that aligned perfectly with the client’s operational style.

As structural works conclude and the twin towers of Sportz by Danube move toward their late 2026 completion, the project stands as a benchmark for how industrialised formwork systems and expert on-site services can streamline the delivery of Dubai’s evolving skyline.
