Nissibi Bridge

Turkey

The Nissibi Bridge crosses over the Atatürk Reservoir at the Euphrates River and was built to reduce travel times in this south-eastern region of Turkey. Doka supplies the custom-tailored formwork concept for the demanding shapes of the pylons.

Challenge

  • construction of two pylons, each 96 m tall and inclined by 13.7 °
  • taking into account high wind speeds (limited opportunities for crane use)
  • adherence to tight construction schedule

Solution

  • the two pylons each 96 m tall were formed without a crane using the Automatic climbing formwork SKE50 plus
  • thanks to this formwork solution, even wind speeds up to 72 km/h did not interrupt the climbing progress
  • the two pylon legs inclined by 13.7 ° were cast in a 7-day cycle using the Automatic climbing formwork SKE50 plus in combination with the Large-area formwork Top 50
  • the merging point of the legs is at 55.97 m then another 33.76 m was added to the height
  • the professional training from the Doka Formwork instructor on site ensured proper assembly and handling of the formwork systems
