One Bloor West

Toronto, Ontario

Shaping a New Landmark with "One Bloor West"

Toronto is fast becoming one of the most dynamic skylines in North America, and Doka is central to this development.

At the prominent intersection of Yonge and Bloor Street, "One Bloor West" is rising — a modern marvel among Canada's tallest buildings at 306 meters.

As the country's first supertall, the skyscraper combines luxury living with state-of-the-art engineering. The project exemplifies the city’s shift toward vertical, mixed-use developments and highlights the increasing demand for innovative construction solutions.

In partnership with Hardwall Construction Ltd, Doka is helping to reach new heights in Toronto's skyline with “One Bloor West.” Through advanced formwork and scaffolding systems, Doka ensures both safety and efficiency throughout the complex construction process.

With an ambitious and thoughtful design, the 85-storey tower will combine seven levels of retail and restaurants, a hotel, and apartments with multilevel penthouses.

Custom-engineered solutions to meet the unique challenges of One Bloor West

This high-rise project presented significant challenges, including limited site space, restricted crane availability, and complex logistics. Additionally, the structure needed to withstand extreme wind and weather conditions at over 300 meters while ensuring maximum stability through its eight mega columns, which form the backbone of the tower.

To address these demands, Doka delivered a comprehensive system package, including custom-engineered solutions like SCP platforms, SKE100 plus, Xclimb 60 and protection screens. These solutions were seamlessly integrated to ensure structural integrity, efficient workflows, and worker safety.

Monitored climbing processes and adaptable formwork allowed the project team to overcome logistical constraints and maintain flexibility without compromising quality. The client valued Doka’s collaborative partnership throughout the project, from tendering to execution. This combination of innovative solutions, technical precision, and strong support was key to the successful and efficient completion of this iconic structure.

“A particularly complex aspect of the project was the installation of the custom protection screens, the largest screens Doka has ever designed. This required enormous accuracy and commitment from all involved in the process, starting from the design, production, assembly and all the way to delivery, lifting, and anchoring to the structure. The precision and coordination from our team ensured that these screens were installed safely and efficiently, providing maximum protection for workers and the surrounding busy streets“
