Snowy 2.0 is more than just a construction project — it’s a once-in-a-generation investment in Australia’s clean energy future and currently the country’s most significant renewable energy initiative.
This pumped storage hydro expansion of the Snowy Scheme will connect Tantangara reservoir and Talbingo reservoir through 27 km of tunnels, an underground power station and complex intake and outlet structures, delivering clean energy to millions of homes.
Doka delivers a full spectrum of formwork, shoring and digital solutions for Snowy 2.0. Our scope includes the intake and outlet structures, transition areas and the headrace and tailrace tunnels. This features high-performance tunnel formwork and steel travellers, along with a range of specialized systems — all seamlessly brought together into a holistic concept. The result: Safe, efficient execution of our scope of work. Doka is proud to contribute to this milestone in collaboration with Future Generation Joint Venture (FGJV) — a partnership between Webuild, Clough, and Lane — with execution support from subcontractor Whittens.
Challenge
Solution
„The transition zones were among the most technically demanding parts within Doka’s scope of works in Snowy 2.0, as the tunnel geometry shifted between rectangular and circular profiles. With our customised SL-1 traveller system and integrated invert formwork, we could adapt seamlessly, mastering the geometric challenges“
