Hunts Point Wastewater Treatment Plant

New York, USA

South Clyde Energy Centre

This project involved the waterproof construction of four tanks with an impressive internal diameter (25m). The slipform process took place 24/7 in two shifts per day with a sliding speed of 4 meters per 24 hrs. Notably, during the concrete pouring, an HDPE liner was directly installed on the inner side of the tanks within the fluctuating level of the liquid filling, which is the upper 6 meter of the tank. The use of the HDPE liner serves to ensure the protection of the concrete surface against the aggressive environment in the area of changing filling level.
