Tunnel Steinhaus

Austria

This 2.4 km long twin-tube motorway tunnel was constructed in a weekly cycle. The project was awarded for the Austrian engineer's prize 2002 because of the innovative solution of the monolithic construction method. The jury had based their decision on the particularly innovative formwork concept as well as the excellent coordination between the design and execution of construction work.

Back to overview
All formwork movements were controlled by a central steering unit (- stripping of bottom panels, pulling back of wall panels and moving to the next pouring step).
