Puskás Ferenc Stadium

Budapest, Hungary

For both the European- and Hungarian construction industry, one of the biggest investment projects in the near future is the reconstruction of Puskás Ferenc Stadium, formerly called Népstadion. The budget of the project is 603.177.000 EUR, the total floor area will be 60.703 m2, and the 3-storey of the stadium will allow a maximum capacity of 67.155 people. During the planning phase of the new arena was a very important aspect to preserve the Népstadion’s unique characteristic elements. The contractors will use 125.000 m3 concrete, and 18.500 tons of rebar for the mixed structure of the stadium (monolith - prefabricated concrete - steel).

Challenge:
The peculiarity of the project is the 38 pylons with variable geometry, which are 45 m high and also serve as supporting frames for the unique steel roof.

Solution:
The contractors are using 300 platforms of MF 240 climbing formwork combined with Top 50 framed formwork to create the 38 fair-faced concrete pylons. The slab, wich is approaching 7 meters will be made with Eurex 20 700 floor props combined with Staxo 40 load-bearing towers.
