China's first cross-sea rail-road bridge

Songxia, China

Pingtan Strait cross-sea railway bridge with total length of 16.32 km and main span 532 m cable-stayed bridge is located in Songxia. The bridge is separated into 2 deck lanes: the upper deck with a 6 lane expressway and the lower deck with a 4 track high-speed railway. It is the first cross-sea highway-railway double deck bridge in China and also the first-stage of the Taiwan strait bridge project. The H - pylons are 200 meters high.

Challenge:
Difficult geometry, high demands of wind speed of typhoon, fully closed cover of the platforms, climbing 33 castings steps from bottom to top without major rebuild of platforms.

Solution:
16 pieces automatic climbers SKE100 plus with a telescopic solution allow high adaptability to the structure geometry. The combination of steel formwork and Top 50 formwork allow high number of reuses.
