All-hydraulic forming of complex cross-section! The 7,400 m long Erstfeld contract section is the northern-most part of the Gotthard Base Tunnel. It also includes construction of two 400 m long underground branch-offs built using the drill-and-blast method followed by CIP concrete lining.
The 910 m long Amras motorway enclosure is built with a twin-tube cross-section. The tunnel tubes are cast in alternate sequential sections using two all-hydraulically controlled Doka tunnel formwork travellers.
Südgürtel is part of a comprehensive infrastructure package designed to bring the southern part of Graz up to speed for the requirements of modern mobility. For the 4-lane connector between Puntigamerbrücke and Liebenauer Gürtel, Doka is the supplier of 2 interior forming carriages from its Tunnel system DokaCC, 2 tunnel roof travellers from Doka's Load-bearing tower SL-1 and Wall formwork FF20 for the impermeable tank structures.
This project consists of a discharge tunnel for the largest hydroelectric power station built over the course of the last decade in Chile. Due to the size of the cross-section, Doka planned a 2-storey forming wagon made of Doka's load-bearing tower SL-1. In spite of the steep 13.75% longitudinal inclination, it was assembled with this inclination by a Doka formwork instructor.
This project, which was part of the 4.3 km Hubertendorf – Blindenmarkt section, was a 1700 m long subsection built using the 'top-cover' underground construction method. Since the walls were braced against one another by the tunnel formwork traveller, there was no need for any expendable anchoring components when casting the inliner (single-sided wall).

With cut-and-cover construction for tunnels, an excavation pit is dug which is then kept supplied from above grade. After completion of the tunnel shell, the excavation pit is filled in again and the tunnel sections are covered with excavated soil. Most cross-sections of cut-and-cover construction tunnels are shaped like a frame or rectangle and built using non-monolithic, partially monolithic or monolithic methods.

Mining-type (underground) tunnel construction
For tunnels built with the mining – i.e. bored underground – construction method, the required cavity is created by conventional or mechanical heading work and continuously stabilised.
After ensuring the success of several safeguards in the process such as shotcrete and watertightness, the tunnel's inner shell is complete using various options.

For tunnels built using the top-cover method, also known as the 'top-down' method, the first step is a pre-excavation pit. Working from the base of this pre-excavation, bored cut-off walls or slurry walls are then constructed for lining the pit. The next step is to cast the tunnel roof (i.e. the top cover) onto these trench walls and the soil between them. Then the excavation pit is filled in and the tunnel cover slab covered with replaced soil. After that the tunnel is dug out beneath the top cover and single-sided walls as well as the inner shell's floor plate are poured one by one.
