Seven Climate Rangers show the way

Seven Doka employees completed the Climate Ranger Academy to develop their knowledge on climate protection and mainstream this knowledge within Doka's business environment. This is because transformation will only be successful if sustainability is reflected in the strategy, the business’s own core processes and in its everyday processes.

An online further training programme for companies that hits the mark. The clear focus? Convey in-depth knowledge about the climate. Because knowledge is essential, if we are all going to engage. What drives what we do or don't do every day at work? How can you protect the climate effectively, without falling into the green-washing trap? And, please, what exactly can I do here in my part of the company?

”This training has opened my eyes to what is now the greatest and most serious issue confronting our world – and now there is only one thing to do: Let's ALL get going!”

Seven members of Doka's team in Germany, Austria and Switzerland wanted to know. So they took the opportunity to gain the skills to take part in this exciting further training programme. They went through an application phase, successfully writing pieces on motivation that allowed them to win places for the Climate Ranger training.

”What taking part in the Climate Ranger Academy taught me is that you need to question what motivates your own behaviour, if you are going to contribute something to protect the climate using alternative solutions.”

Together we drive momentum

As part of the Umdasch Group, we at Doka aim to not only be economically successful, but also fulfill our ecological and social responsibilities as well as our responsibility as an employer. Therefore, we regularly set impulses within and outside our company and drive international initiatives that make our common working and living environment more sustainable.

Ronny Kühne I Deutsche Doka Group

"What moved me was how important an issue climate change is and its consequences for us as well as the effects it will have in the future. I was delighted to see how many companies from very different sectors were able to motivate their employees to take part in the Climate Ranger Academy.”

There were two course units per week in the five-week course, with inputs from eight experts in total, including the Austrian climate expert Markus Wadsak and whatchado founder Ali Mahlodji. Apart from an in-depth study of climate change and potential solutions to reduce CO2 through mobility concepts, it also covered areas such as team engagement and success factors for sustainable transformation.

In addition to presentations by experts, the course also provided networking opportunities and a forum to exchange ideas on best practice with other companies. Appropriately, the theme was “Learn. Connect. Act.” Our seven climate rangers were absolutely committed to inspire their teams to protect the climate.

Andreas Watz

Andreas Watz I Deutsche Doka Group

“What surprised me was that around a third of global greenhouse gas emissions are produced in relation to our food and agriculture. Whether at home or at work: We must talk to other people about this subject. The more we get involved, the more we can achieve!”

Doka and Umdasch Group are committed to sustainable development.
This is why we subscribe to initiatives that are aligned with the United Nations’ “Sustainable Development Goals”.
